  • Computers/Computer Labs

    North Hennepin 11 computer classrooms: CLA-133, CBT-159, CBT-160, CBT-161, CBT-162, ES-120, LRC-101, LRC-104, LRC-167 and SCI-128 with CBT-162 and FAC-126 featuring Macintosh equipment.
    In addition, CBT-158 is an open computer lab; and there are computer areas in the ES lobby, LRC and CLA buildings.

    North Hennepin Community College uses Office 365 for student email. Office 365 provides email, online storage (OneDrive), and the Microsoft Office suite.

    E-mail on my Phone

    The  provides instructions and wizards to assist you in sending email to your phone. Use the “Mobile Phone Setup Wizard”. Additional information you will need:

    • Domain/Username =
      (*if DOMAIN and USERNAME are separate fields, leave DOMAIN blank and enter the information in the USERNAME field)

    • Password = your StarID password

    • Server Name =
      (*sometimes using “” works instead)

  • Employee Remote Access

    Use VMWare Horizon to securely connect to your campus computer profile and access files that are saved to your H: (Personal) and S: (Shared) drives. These drives are an allotted amount of space on our network where it is recommended you save files. The View client can now be accessed through a web browser, requiring your StarID login credentials and no download.

  • Printing

    NHCC has printers that are connected to campus computers, the 9 printer stations are shown on the map:

    Printing Guidelines/Information

    • Instructions to print are posted near campus computers.
    • Students log-in to their account using their StarID.
    • Community members create an account and can access computers located in the ES building.
    • The cost for a double-sided black and white print/copy is 10 cents per page.
    • The cost for a color print/copy is 40 cents per side.
    • Cash only and correct change is needed. Unused deposits can be used for future print jobs, but you will not receive a refund
    • Instructions for Wi-Fi Printing. You must use your StarID and StarID password as your login when it prompts you.
  • Software

    • FREE: Microsoft Office 365
    • allows students, faculty or NHCC staff to purchase software, hardware and computer accessories at an educational discount price.

  • StarID

    What is a StarID?
    StarID is a single username that allows you to log into any of your technology applications at North Hennepin and within the Minnesota State system. The StarID format consists of two letters followed by four numbers, followed by two letters, such as ab1234cd. You can use the same StarID at every participating Minnesota State institution.

    Activating your StarID
    To activate your StarID:

    • In the Institution field, select North Hennepin Community College
    • In the Tech ID field, enter your eight-digit Student ID number 
    • Enter your social security number and click Continue

    3) Enter and re-enter your new password
    4) Select your preferred email address
    5) Click the box acknowledging data stewardship responsibilities
    6) Click Activate StarID

    • Software Access and Training - Training resources for new and current software that you have access to as a student or employee of North Hennepin Community College.
  • WebEx

    Online collaboration is available for NHCC students, faculty, and staff!

    WebEx is a web-conferencing technology that enables users to conduct collaborative online meetings or training sessions. Users can share documents on their computing devices and communicate with each other using voice, video, or chat. Users can initiate and host or participate as attendees in meetings with classmates, teachers, and college staff. WebEx allows a meeting host to invite multiple attendees to participate in a conference. WebEx has been licensed by North Hennepin Community College so that you can connect and collaborate online with students, faculty, and staff. Below are some student use-cases:

    • Communicate with your teacher "live"
    • Connect with your advisor
    • Meet with your group to work on a group project
    • Meet with your study group

    Students who only take fully online courses might benefit from this technology the most, since it may not be possible for them to visit campus in person and meet with the teacher during their office hours, meet with their advisor to review their academic plan, or meet with the classmates for group-work.

    Take your web meeting everywhere! Join any meeting right from your Apple, Android, Windows tablet or smartphone.

  • Wireless

    To use NHCC's wi-fi:

    • Connect to the network "StarLAN" in your settings.
    • Login with your StarID and password.

    If you have any issues connecting please visit the Help Desk in CBT 103.

    Guest users will need to register their wireless account with the IT Help Desk staff in CBT 103 before they will be given access.

  • Adobe Spark

    Adobe Spark allows student to create visual stories using web, graphic and video. It is free for students. Go to to start building your project. See attached Adobe Spark login instructions on how to get access. Learn more about Adobe Spark 

  • Microsoft Development Software

    is the developer tools and learning resources students and educators need to build cloud-based skills.

    Students can jump-start their careers and innovation with free access to Azure, developer tools, and learning resources. Please refer to the guide for instructions on how to access and register for the portal.

  • Zoom

    鑫众棋牌We are excited to announce that Minnesota State is launching Zoom as our new web conferencing solution

    Accessing Zoom Services

    Starting July 1, 2019, go to and choose Sign In using your Star ID.

    Need to Know Details about the Service

    Who can use Zoom?  All active Minnesota State employees (faculty and staff) and students are able to access the service by logging in with their Star ID.

    How long do we have Zoom?  Minnesota State has signed a four year agreement with Zoom that runs from June 14, 2019 to June 13, 2023.

    What features do I get with Zoom? – Zoom provides some of the same features you’ll find with other major video and web conferencing services.

    Do you have specific questions about what features you’ll find with our license to Zoom?

    Meeting Rooms With a 300 person meeting room capacity, you can schedule different URLs for each meeting you host or use your Personal Meeting ID as a persistent meeting location.  Need more room, your account also gets a 500 person webinar space.

    Microphone and Telephone Audio If you can’t use the amazing audio quality of a microphone, enjoy the option to dial in or have Zoom call your phone.  There is no charge to use the telephone service.  Watch this video.

    Video If your camera and internet connection can handle it, you’ll enjoy HD quality video.  Don’t have a HD camera or a “super-fast” connection to the Internet, no worries, Zoom will accommodate you. Watch this video.

    Recordings Employees enjoy the ability to record their meetings to Zoom’s cloud service or their own computer. Recordings stored on Zoom’s cloud service will stick around for 365 days before they are deleted automatically.  If you need your recording to stick around longer, move your recording to the Minnesota State media service, Kaltura MediaSpace.  If you want employees can send Zoom cloud recordings directly to their Kaltura MediaSpace account.  Students can also record meetings to Zoom’s cloud service, but they only hang around 180 days.  Watch this video.

    Screen Sharing and Whiteboards Why tell, when you can show them!  Choose to share your computer screen or annotate on a whiteboard. If you are used to uploading a file within a meeting that will be displayed to participants, sorry, you’ll have to share your screen instead.  Watch this video.

    Room Systems / ITV IntegrationWant to use those high quality cameras in conference rooms and classrooms at your campus? Zoom can do that, too!  Just invite a “room system” by calling the SIP or H.323 number.  Watch this video.

    Mobile Device SupportIn addition to traditional Win/Mac versions, Zoom has covered all major mobile platforms including iPhones/iPads using iOS, Androids, Chromebooks using ChromeOS.  Even our Linux users will be happy!   Watch this video.

    Calendar IntegrationAdd the Zoom plugin to your Outlook account and add a Zoom meeting location right from your calendar invitation. This plugin makes sending an Outlook meeting invitation with Zoom so easy!  Watch this video.
